LED Skin Treatments

At Clinica we use Celluma LED light therapy. Celluma is an award-winning, FDA-approved and CE-certified treatment designed to manage a variety of skin conditions. Celluma is one of the most powerful and effective variations of Photodynamic Therapy (PDT), an increasingly popular skin treatment. Our doctors are experts in the field, having published scientific papers on Photodynamic Therapy. The treatment is clinically proven to speed up wound healing, have an anti-ageing effect and improve inflammatory skin conditions such as acne, eczema and rosacea. You may have noticed that your skin looks amazing on holiday - this is because of the beneficial effects of sunlight. Celluma creates the same photo-chemical reaction in the skin without the risks associated with UV exposure. This way you can enjoy the post-holiday glow all year round! Celluma is completely pain-free, non-toxic and non-invasive. It is also cost-effective because it reduces the need for other procedures, promoting long-term skin health. It works excellently as a standalone treatment, however many of our patients choose to add it on following other procedures to enhance their effects, reduce recovery time and minimise downtime. The treatment is very comfortable and involves lying down with eye protection and having light administered to your face and neck using a special dome-shaped mask that ensures even coverage. The procedures take up to 30 minutes at a time.

When it comes to using LED light therapy, it’s best to develop an appropriate and achievable routine. It’s a bit like going to the gym - you need to be consistent to fully experience the benefits of your membership. Just like used exercising, the benefits of LED light therapy are cumulative. So, for best results expect to make an appointment at least two to three times a week, and even more if you wish. However, if you are on any medications or have any medical conditions you will need to consult your doctor first.  Some prescription medications can cause light sensitivity.
